Job Shadow Summary
For my job shadow I decided to go on a ride along with a police officer from Lindsay. The ride along started off slow but, things quickly escalated when we saw a guy driving with a suspended license. It turned out that the guy has been arrested so many times that they recognize him and knew he had a suspended license. Once we stopped him we searched his car and found crystal meth under the car seat. That was my first time seeing meth. After we got done with everything, we took the guy back to the lindsay police department and threw him in the cell block. Once we got done filling out the papers for the arrest, we tested the meth and it came out positive.
The other half of my job shadow was spent at the fire station. The reason why the officer took me to the fire station was because I originally wanted to job shadow a firefighter but, the people at the police department said that the firefighters in lindsay were police officers as well. It turns out that the Police Officer I went on a ride along with started off as a firefighter but they force him to cross train to become a Officer. I'm really thankful that the officer took me to the fire station, because I got to learn more about what firefighter do, and what I need to accomplish to become one.
After my job shadow was done I came to the conclusion that I still want to become a firefighter. Although I still want to be a firefighter, being a Police Officer would be my second choice. I know that these two jobs are considered dangerous jobs but, it's the only thing that I see myself doing in the future.
